I’m so glad you’re here. Truly.
In this first post, I wanted to share a bit of the behind-the-scenes process of writing Dear Parts—and why I wrote it in the first place.
Long before this became a book, it began as letters. Quiet, honest letters I wrote to myself. Over time, they grew into a collection, though I didn’t know it then.
Writing them was simply the only way I knew how to communicate with the Parts of me that needed a voice. Much later, I realized those letters were the heart of a book.
I just sat down and started writing.
I had no idea where it was headed. But once the words began, they took on a life of their own. They didn’t stop.
Even though the idea of writing a book had followed me for years—and even though some part of me knew my story needed to be told—I didn’t begin with that intention.
I wrote because I had to. Because something inside me needed to be expressed. Needed to be witnessed.
Very quickly, those letters became something more. The story kept unfolding, and before I fully understood it, Dear Parts was being born.
The difference between this attempt and all the others was simple: I was writing from Self—from the grounded, clear, compassionate place inside me. And when I wrote from there, the writing became effortless.
It took getting out of my head to finally share the story that had been living there all along.
And now, it’s a real, physical book coming out soon.
In this space, I’ll be sharing reflections on healing, behind-the-scenes moments from the writing of Dear Parts, and insights from the therapies and tools that helped me find my way back to wholeness.
Think of this email community as a quiet place where all of you—every Part of you—is welcome to exist.
